Lady Legend

Question for everyone out there, how did the sweet little ladybug become the China adoption mascot? Who thought of it and where? Was it from the old rhyme, "Ladybug, Ladybug fly away home."
I love to think about all our little ladybugs flying home to their forever families.

From what I have read, there seems to have been a period when many many ladybugs were sighted, followed with huge number of referrals, or something like that. I could be wrong...could have been the other way round.

I really like the new header too. As far as the ladybug here is what the APC yahoo group said:

Ladybugs:
Almost everyone new to APC asks about the meaning of ladybugs. They do
sound like there would be a Chinese story behind them. But, it's an APC
story instead.

Ladybugs are actually a good luck charm or mascot for APC. The winter of
'97 (sounds like a really old story doesn't it?) was so warm that ladybugs
were everywhere in large numbers in the Spring. People would spot a
ladybug
and good things would happen. And before you knew it we were all looking
for ladybugs, even our families began to look for them and suddenly ....
they became a good luck symbol.
They are especially needed for the times when referrals are lacking and
spirits get low. The ladybug seem to brighten all our days. I continue to
smile whenever I find a ladybug.
Earlier it was recommended we turn the ladybug story into an ancient APC
myth. It could have a hero/heroine that is turned into a ladybug, an aphid
that is the INS, etc.

Your little monkeys are cuties!

I think they are good luck in chinese culture and combined with the APC idea, it has become part of the culture.
