Karate Kid

Tonight I signed up the eldest monkey for Karate.

I kind of had mixed feelings when Jennifer voiced an interest in this sport. Our school has a strict policy of "no hands on" as we do at home, all I invision is the Karate kid kicking, karate chopping and yelling"Ah ya" at the top of her lungs. I am hoping we don't have issues with practicing outside of class.
On the other hand the class Sensei tells me it is great for discipline, listening(Mommy likes this!!) and boosts self confidence.

I am looking forward to her first class next Thursday...

That picture cracks me up! I am sure they will tell the children in the class over and over that what they learn is not to be used in the wrong way... even playing. And I think it is wonderful that she will know self defence should she ever need to use it. The fact that she will know Karate will probably keep anyone from trying to hurt her. It will be ok.

Oh, please keep us posted on how this goes. Jay really wants to sign Lily up for karate when she's a bit older! I hope she loves it...and yeah, I've heard it is an excellent teacher of discipline! Yay for you!

This should be interesting!!! Hopefully she doesn't practice on her sister! My brother took some martial arts class when we were kids. He made the mistake of teaching me how to flip someone. heh,heh,heh...

Hayden took one class and never went back. He was scared of the teacher.....

ROFL over the photo, that is priceless.

My son did Kenpo Karate for a couple of years, he never used it outside the classroom. They progress pretty slowly, it's not like she'll come out of there with a black belt for awhile!

I always loved it because he was exhausted afterward!

Cute! My nephew G-Man is in Karate (or as he calls it, "Kaughty Chop Cwass"). He loves it and looks so cute when he is in his outfit.

That is awesome- I think it did WONDERS for my friend's little girl, she absolutely loved it and it really did help her with listening. It's a wonderful art, it's not all about "ah ya" :O) I took Kung Fu for years, and learned so much more than just the moves.
