My Dad...

Last Sunday shook my safe little world as I once knew it.
My Dad and my Uncle went to a country store about ten minutes from his home. He went to get out of the car and an elderly lady was backing up her car, instead of braking she accelerated her vehicle pinning my Dad.He was stuck between her car and the vehicle he was a passenger in.
This lady just kept accelerating and backing up, my Uncle and a passerby got her out of her car and rushed to my Dad's side.
He was then rushed to hospital, as some of you might know my Father was a Paramedic for 43 years and just recently retired. To be a patient was quite different for him.
He sustained very serious injuries to his legs, the left being the worst, he had some facial lacerations.
I was not prepared to see my Dad in the state he was in, vulnerable, full of pain, looking frail, bruised and cut up. I held it together until I left his side, I fell into pieces.
We are waiting to hear when he will have surgery on his left leg, they have already told us even after they repair it,it will never be the same.
This is hard.
My Dad was a very vital, active, young 65, he was full of life. My hope is this will not change his lifestyle.
I just wish I could trade places with him, so hard to see my hero in pain.......

Oh Kerri, I am so sorry to hear of your dad's accident. Praying for you and your dad. I totally understand how difficult is it to see your hero so vulnerable. It is so hard to see our parents getting older or hurt when they are supposed to be the strong ones.

PS.Cherish every God given minute with your dad...I lost my dad exactly 2 months ago tomorrow and the pain is so excrutiating that each day sometimes feels like a mountain to climb...if only I could turn back the hands of time..I know he is at peace and in a much better place, but my human heart wants to hug him ever so badly!

Thanks Deb, he is doing a little better.
Waiting for the swelling to go down so they can repair his knee. Got most of his stiches out and has started some physical therapy.
It is going to be a long road, thank you for your prayers, they mean so much!
